A couple of notes

Look who's on the cover of the most recent GQ- Hello my darling!

(image borrowed from faded youth.com)

I really love Clint Eastwood. Anyway, I hadn't read GQ in a while and was surprised at how good the writing is. There's a really funny section called "The Conversation" that follows an employee convo for like 3 pages on movies and music, etc... One guy admits that he follows Taylor Swift's twitter and was like, "She bakes cookies, she helps her dad find his glasses...So fun!"
Hilarious.

There was also a really interesting review of Up in the Air, and that's really the whole point of this post. Read it!

On another note, I saw this on MSN's Wonderwall page thing that gives celeb highlights, man it's fun to point out other people's mistakes.

Apparently the Gyllenhaal's parents are getting a divorce. Not the Gyllenhaal's themselves, since they are brother and sister. Right.

Just thought that was worth sharing. I know I'm behind on blogging about Christmas, Christmas shopping, Christmas spirit, Christmas cookies, what I did for Christmas, but let's face it... that's nothing new. Hurray for the almost new year!

Christmas Eve, eve!

It just hit me that it's the eve of Christmas Eve, which reminds me of when I used to start counting down from Christmas Eve eve eve eve eve... you know, until just a couple of years ago.

Christmas is really my favorite. I'm excited about what 2010 will bring and I hope that everyone is fortunate enough to feel that way as well!

A few port city pics

Was in Shreveport last week and took a few pictures...
(plus I added that Motor Hotel pic from my archives-couldn't resist!)

(I've been meaning to stop and take a picture of this building forever and decided to seize the moment while stopped at a red light...so the angle is not beautiful.)

Now that I've moved away I notice waaaaay more interesting photo ops. Funny how it works like that.

January Vogue's cover girl, i heart thee

I love Rachel McAdams. There aren't too many movie stars that I look up to, but I think Rachel McAdams is one that you can't help but admire. She's gorgeous, she acts well and she keeps herself out of the tabloids. She really seems to be just a normal person who doesn't let her job go to her head.

And I usually think she has great style, although this article says that she doesn't really care about fashion.

Bravo to Vogue! The pictures are beautiful. If you like Rachel, check out a sneak peek of the story here.

What I did for my Thanksgiving vacation

Okay, so I didn't really take a vacation, but remember in elementary school how you always had to write those little essays during the holidays or share with the class what you did? I'm bringing it back.

So here's what I did:

1. Perfected my smoothie recipe.
I know, I know- but trust me, I'm not normally a "let me whip up my own smoothie" kind of girl. In fact I've been known to be a dodger of fruits in general, I would rather eat vegetables or put toothpicks in my eyes, dunno.. So in an attempt to up the fruit ante AND incorporate soy milk into my diet- welcome to smoothie land.

2. Spent quite a few hours in the car.
For some of those hours there was a third party in the car with me and my boyfriend, and yes you guessed it, that third party was his mother. I'll leave that for you to reflect on alone.

3. Saw this cool, old theater.
Once upon a time a friend and I embarked on a roadtrip from Shreveport to San Antonio. After stopping in Longview to fuel up on Starbucks and map our journey, we were given some wonderful help by a delightful young employee. A "shortcut", I believe she called it. Well we DID arrive in San Antonio, but whether or not it was supposed to take us 13 hours is another question.

But back to the point of the story. On this journey we found ourselves in a quaint, delightful place whose signs all said "Henderson County." It was a charming-looking village, in spite of the fact that we had no clue where we were. Imagine my delight when our Thanksgiving travels took us through Athens, Texas and I found myself once again in the one and only Henderson County!

And we stopped at this old theater to snag some pics.

4. Shopped on Half.com for holiday movies.

5. Worked on a photo calendar for a Christmas gift to my neighbors.

What did you do?

Merry & Bright!

One of my more recent addictions is the blog From Me to You- she's a photographer whose work is just really, really beautiful- and right now she has some gorgeous original iPhone backgrounds you can download- for FREE!

I don't even have an iPhone and these were enough to make me covet my neighbors'.

This is one of my faves:
