Hey you, crayola pants

I've been wanting colored jeans since last year, but I can't help but wonder- will i ever wear them? They may become that item that you just had to have, but then never want to put on because it never seems like the right occasion... you know the one that i mean. I've even considered getting blue colored jeans, cause then they would be like..blue jeans. But bright blue. Eh? Eh?

Gimme some feedback! Let me know if you think i can rock colored jeans or if i will look like i'm headed to a Miley Cyrus concert. Please! (Example below)

but sometimes still buy the occasional cardigan)

On another color note: I didn't get a pashmina, faux or otherwise, for my birthday (what did i get, you ask? Coming soon...) so i took matters into my own hands- on ebay. I found some seller in China who had them for $1.97...yes you are reading that correctly, plus like 4 bucks shipping, and they had them in 40 COLORS! 40 colors. I hope i made the right choice.

The feedback people left on that particular item was lacking. They said things like "Ok." and "Plessure doing busness." Never trust a non-speller.
For the money, i decided to roll the dice! So i bought one and i will let you know if it ends up being hanky-sized or causing my neck to break out into hives.

How Cute is This?!?

I saw this image on another blog that i occasionally peruse,
How About Orange and thought it was reaaaaally a cute art idea.

Imagine my surprise when I followed the link so i could figure out how to make one of these for myself... and was taken to the Krylon website. Yes, you read that correctly, Krylon. As in the spray paint that teenage boys frequently purchase from Walmart to express themselves through graffiti. Who knew?

If this doesn't prove that there are creative jobs out there coming up with fun ideas for almost any company that has a product to market, i don't know what does. Congrats, Krylon, i'm loving it and i'm bookmarking you guys for future project inspiration.

Some News Briefs

...of local interest. Jane Aldridge of Sea Of Shoes mentioned in this Wall Street Journal article on fashion bloggers as muses- Fashion's Secret Helpers. (Also Tavi from Style Rookie is in there!)

Another news dose of local awesomeness that I spied is this article on a man who lives in Huntsville, Texas and builds homes primarily out of discarded scraps and found objects. I know that doesn't have to do with fashion, per say, but if you check out the article you can't deny that this dude has style!
One Man's Trash
.
(Below is a picture of a countertop in one of his homes that I think is really neat. Yes, I said neat and I'm under 30.)

Shoe Sale!

...In my closet!

So earlier this year I broke one of my foot bones. How, you ask? Was I doing high impact aerobics? Did I jump from a tree? A sumo wrestler step on my foot in line at Starbucks? The answers are no, no and no, I was just minding my own business and wearing my preferred shoe option- HEELS! Somehow, someway, trekking around all day in heels caused me to have a broken sesamoid bone. (Well, the doc said that either heels broke the bone, or the bone was already broken and the wearing of heels "irritated" the broken bone. Riiiiiight.)

Anyway! Ever since then I've been trying not to wear heels as much, and when I do wear them I wear lower heels rather than higher. Some of my most beautiful pairs of shoes have been stagnating in my closet ever since, which has led me to the decision that these darlings need a new home. Someone who will take them for walks and wear them on a more regular basis. So I'm selling some of my shoes!

These are the first to go, they are Nine West Escribe Heels- clearly in hot pink or fuschia, whichever you prefer, suede. Size 8.5. I love them and we have many memories together. They are in excellent condition...sigh. So they're on Ebay right now, but if anyone is interested you can email me at clothesfox(at)arklatexfashion dot com and I will let you know how you can make them yours! (If they aren't already sold, of course.)

Keep your eyes peeled for more closet sales in the near future!

Dress me up

Lace. I don't know why, but I am just really into it right now. (Don't worry- not like, a lace Madonna glove or lace bodysuit, be reasonable here.) I'm not typically a huge necklace person, but I'm trying to expand my accessorizing horizons beyond earrings, so earlier this summer I took a chance and bought a necklace from the Etsy shop Fox & Clover and I think that's where this whole thing began.

Well now, weeks later with my lace obsession still growing, imagine my delight when I flipped open my idea book (which is this book where I paste magazine clippings and paint swatches, etc., that I find inspiration in), and what did my eyes behold but this picture- from approximately 2007:

(Sorry, not the best scan)

It's a tee shirt with... umm, like a lace inset. I. Need. This. Or something like it. So I took to Etsy to see if I could find something similar, and I hate to say- I didn't- but here's the part where I'm going to change the subject completely because that's how my mind works and because I DID find this great Etsy shop whiteowl that has some fantastic necklaces that really take my lace doily necklace to the next level. Like lace-necklace-meets-bib-necklace style. Need this in my life to wear with grey tights and maybe a blazer or something. Oh, and pants. Or a skirt or dress really, not just the tights and blazer.

Yesssss. Pic from whiteowl.

Whiteowl also has some fantastic earrings, also. Basically I'm considering starting to buy all my EVERYTHING from Etsy. Don't even get me started on the paper goods you can find on there...
